Unable to dump zelda master quest (n64)
« on: 11/Sep/2017 01:26:30 AM »
hey guys anyone else not able to dump the legend of zelda master quest for the n64? i know its not an official release but i should be able to correctly dump it right?

it shows up as ZeldaMasterQuest.z64 and its 32,768KB but it wont run in an emulator and the program im using to verify the checksum is saying its failing to calculate it but i remember when i tried this awhile ago i did manage to get one dump to work but its very hit and miss.

this is the game im talking about:

ive took lots of pictures :D

Update:
ok so after about ten attempts it did dump the game and work and according to the program the checksum is correct so im not sure if the retrode is struggling to read it somehow or its something else but here is a screenshot of the info.

the name it shows up as on the retrode is ZeldaMasterQuest.z64 and a few other things that may or may not matter is im using a retrode 1 (gold) and ive modded my usb cable so it always outputs 3.3v to the retrode.

Yes, a BETA tester reported having problems with the Chinese repros.

I actually have this exact Zelda repro along with a Resident Evil 2 repro.  I haven't bothered to test them to see what is going on.

yeah its strange, clearly it can dump it because i managed to get a dump but why it takes 10 or so tries to actually get a valid dump is beyond me.

I did a couple quick tests with my repros.  The repros are initially being read properly as the game titles are recognized.  However, when the file is created, the data starts from a different random location each time.  It probably has something to do with the Altera chip used by the repro.

That makes sense, I wonder if there is anyway to compensate for that in the retrode's firmware.
