IMPORTANT!

DO NOT USE v0.23f BETA.

There is a N64 SRAM bug introduced in v0.23f.  It has the potential to corrupt your SRAM saves.

Please revert back to v0.23e BETA.

I'll fix the bug and issue a new version v0.23g.

Thank you to the tester that brought it to my attention.

My apologies to you all for the problem.

The .EEP save works.

There is a single save in slot 1:
Gabriel
M Age 19 Red 0410 Yellow 22
00 day 06 hrs 51 min 46 sec

You probably need to rename the file.  "MISCHIEF MAKERS.eep" in the Save folder works.

There's a bug in the SMS SRAM read code that will corrupt two bytes at 0x1878 and 0x18FF.  These bytes will be changed to 0xFF when you read any SMS cart with SRAM.  The current firmware only outputs saves full of 0xFFs due to missing initialization BUT the bytes are corrupted on the read.  I wanted to make the bug known before users corrupt their SMS save games.

I've fixed the bug for the next release of the N64 BETA firmware.  I'll eventually release a new SEGA SMS-GG BETA firmware with save support and more fixes.

I finally modified my SMS plugin with a GG connector.

I checked the SMS/GG code to see what the cart heuristics looks like.   The code relies on the size in the ROM header with a supplemental modifier based on the product code.  The product code modifier looks specific to the SMS ROMs.

I've added a check for GG carts coded size "0" (256KB).  These are the carts that could be 256KB, 512KB, or 1MB.  The code fixes Garfield, Sonic 2, and the other 512KB and 1MB carts.

The fix will be in a new SEGA SMS-GG BETA firmware.

The SMS SRAM saves appear to work in MEKA.  I went ahead and implemented SMS SRAM writes.  I'll distribute a new SMS BETA firmware once the N64 BETA testing is complete.

The N64 BETA firmware testing has gone well and is near completion.  I'm waiting on one last item before compiling the final version for public distribution.  A BETA tester requested modifying the firmware to increase compatibility with one of the new crop of N64 repro boards.  If I'm able to get my hands on a board then I'll test it to find the required timings.

1/4W.  The package is 0207/10.

There was a board revision that fixed the diagonal resistors.

If your PCB is the v0.4 version dated 2012-08-26, then install the resistors vertically.

Good Luck!

I have no idea on the SMS saves.  If there is anything to be done, then it will have to be done by someone else.

I'm sorry to say that I have no plans or interest in working on support for any other consoles.  If there was one console that I might eventually work on, it would be the GBA saves.

After I finish the N64 fixes, I'll be going back to looking for a solution for the SNES SA-1 SRAM writes.

Well, I picked up a couple SMS carts that use saves and I think I've fixed the SMS SRAM code.  I don't have an SMS console so I don't currently have a way of telling if the save data that I'm dumping is the correct data.  The SMS SRAM code was nearly complete but the initialization of the port/pins was incorrect.  I'm hoping to get a Powerbase unit soon to test the carts on my Genesis.  If I can confirm the save data, then I'll look into adding save data writes.

More testing to do...

For N64 carts, you'll need to switch the voltage to 3.3V.

I've added N64 SRAM, EEPROM, and FlashRAM save support in the latest BETA firmware.

If you want to read your N64 saves, then PM me and I'll send you the link to the firmware.

I think I figured out the problem.

Check the Voltage switch inside the left side of the SNES slot.  Make sure it is set to 5V.

Try reading the cart again.

Good Luck!

I'm not sure what is going on with your setup.

Donkey Kong Country has been tested.

I don't have that specific cart but I have the Japanese Super Donkey Kong and it works perfectly.

I retested my Super Donkey Kong and can read the .SRM file and write to it.

I'm wondering if it is a driver issue.

Here are pictures of the modified N64/GBx adapter:

Connect the BLUE pins.  Connect the RED pins.

When I wired this adapter, I routed the wires from the back thru some vias to get to the front.

THIS IS ONLY FOR THE PROTOTYPE N64/GBX ADAPTER.  THERE IS NO MODIFICATION NECESSARY FOR THE PRODUCTION N64 PLUGIN.

Wannado updated the Genesis save code in v0.21-beta.  These changes are included in v0.22.

There is a Config file setting [segaSram16bit] that you might need to change to make your save file compatible with the emulator.  I haven't personally tested this but it is documented on the website and in these forums.

Good Luck!

You should update to FW v0.22.  After updating, reread the DKC cart and test the save file.

The Config file setting [sramReadonly] determines whether you'll be able to write changes to the save file back to the cart.  This setting will be changing in future firmwares to [saveReadonly].

The date is not something to worry about it.  It is the default when the Retrode creates the file for the filesystem.
